Sustainable energy technologies jobs result from the manufacture, installation, operation, maintenance, service, development and support of clean energy and efficiency projects. Significant investment in Sustainable energy technologies and energy efficiency would add more than 3.3 million jobs over a 10 year period
– Nearly $50 billion in Sustainable energy technologies could result in nearly 1 million new jobs (USA)
– $76 billion in manufacturing of energy efficient durable goods would create over 900 thousand new jobs
– $90 billion in building energy efficiency would yield over 800,000 jobs

Sustainable Energy Technologies
Sustainable energy technologies are essential contributors to world energy security, reducing dependence on fossil fuel resources, and providing opportunities for mitigating greenhouse gases. The generation and use of energy are becoming increasingly efficient and clean, with increasing use of renewable energy sources. The energy market is also changing as a result of internationalization and liberalization.

   We can rely on sustainable energy resources; in fact, the technical potential of wind, clean biomass, and geothermal resources is many times greater than our current total electricity consumption. We could generate many times our current electricity usage from sustainable energy sources such as wind and clean biomass. Additionally, conservative estimates suggest that energy efficiency programs could reduce our electricity use by 18 to 28 percent. Rather than import coal and rely on outdated fossil fuels, we should harness its homegrown sources of sustainable energy, including wind, solar and biomass, and lead the development of energy for the 21st Century.

   Investing in energy efficiency and sustainable technologies such as wind and solar power boosts local economies and creates jobs. Moreover, investing in sustainable energy technologies and energy efficiency helps to diversify the electricity market and reduces consumer dependence on coal and natural gas, thereby saving consumers money and shielding them from fluctuations in market prices. 


Sustainable Energy

Sustainable energy sources which are not expected to be depleted, such as plant matter, solar power, wind power, wave power, geothermal power and tidal power.

Solar
Solar energy systems use the sun's rays for electricity or thermal energy.

Wind
Wind energy can be used to generate electricity for utilities or individual buildings.

Wave
Ocean waves are caused by the wind as it blows across the sea. Waves are a powerful source of energy.

Tidal
The tide moves a huge amount of water twice each day, and harnessing it could provide a great deal of energy - around 20% of Britain's needs.There are eight main sites around Britain where tidal power stations could usefully be built.

Geothermal
Geothermal energy, or the heat below the earth's surface, can be used for electricity or thermal energy.

Biomass Energy
Biomass (plant or animal material) can be used to produce electricity, thermal energy,or transportation fuels. We can use rubbish, animal manure, woodchips, seaweed, corn stalks and other wastes. Solid wastes, can be burned to provide heat, or used to make steam for a power station. "Bioconversion" uses plant and animal wastes to produce "biofuels" such as methanol, natural gas, and oil.


SENWA supports UN's policy efforts to increase energy efficiency and sustainable energy. We strives to build capacity to analyze energy savings and sustainable energy opportunities, and to invest into new technologies to capture those opportunities. SENWA helps local municipalities, experts, and entrepreneurs solve energy challenges for communities. SENWA supports capacity building and technology transfer through linking experts with “best practices” expertise from around the world. When it determines there is a need, SENWA also convene workshops, papers, or take other direct initiatives, in addition to its primary role as a facilitator to arrange funds.
